Ulgos

The Ulgos are members of the group of people who were not chosen by a God when humans were created. After they were told by the other Gods to, "Go ask UL to be your God," they did exactly that. After many generations the majority of the people decided to stay where they were at that time. They decided to send one man to continue the search for the mysterious UL. That man, named Gorim, travelled until he reached the mountain Prolgu, where, wearied beyond measure, he called upon UL to show himself. Such was Gorim's persuasivness and power that UL chose to make himself known. Upon viewing the father of the Gods Gorim proceeded to postrate himself and supplicate UL for his blessing. UL scoffed at the then young man and left the mountaintop. For the next ten years Gorim waited on the peak of Prolgu, the intelligent monsters bringing him food for sustenance, for he spoke for them as well. After the ten years passed UL, interested in spite of himself, returned to ask why he was still there. Gorim replied that it was his duty to remain until not only his people, but the monsters as well, were accepted by UL as his people. Such was Gorim's holiness in delivery that UL very nearly fled the mountain. For another ten years Gorim remained before UL showed himself yet again. UL asked the same question, and Gorim returned the same answer. UL thought on the question for a time and replied that he would take under his wing Gorim's people, but that the inhuman monsters needed no God. When Gorim returned that such was unacceptable UL fled the mountain once again. Yet again ten years passed, and yet again UL showed himself to ask his question. This time Gorim surpassed himself in eloquence and persuasiveness and UL granted his blessing to Gorim's people and the monsters alike. To show his acceptance he touched Gorim upon the brow, turning him a stark white. Overjoyed Gorim returned to his people, who had become prosperous since his departure. He spoke to his people and persuaded many to follow him to Prolgu. When not everyone would heed his voice and follow as they had promised many years before Gorim became angry and cursed them to all be infertile. Those who came with him were all marked as was Gorim himself, completely stark white.

The Ulgos still live at Prolgu, although since the cracking of the world they have lived in caves beneath the mountain instead of on the mountain. The move was made because the cracking drove most of the monsters in the surrounding area mad, a madness that was passed from generation to generation. The Ulgos are deeply religious and take sinning very seriously. They can see in total darkness, an ability developed from living underground for generations, but if the light is increased beyond a dull ambience, even to that of torchlight, the Ulgos must cover their eyes with layers of translucent cloth to prevent blindness. Their religious practices are also very similar to Islam worship, including the massiver amount of prayer and atoning for sin.
